SFU School of Kinesiology research project on overhead drilling
Simon Fraser University’s School of Kinesiology is conducting research project on overhead drilling in construction. They have developed drilling intervention devices to reduce the awkward postures and high forces associated with that task.
This is a WorkSafeBC funded project, and they are looking for mechanical contractors to try out this device on construction sites this spring and summer. All that is required would be to use the devices for one day, and have your tradespeople agree to be observed, fitted with inclinometers, photographed, and interviewed by the research team.
You can view an informational brochure and an information sheet for more info. In addition, WorkSafeBC published an article on the project in a recent issue of their magazine, which explains the project more.
