Transportation Industry Training Organization seeks CEO
The Transportation Industry Training Organization has retained Ray & Berndtson to assist in identifying qualified candidates for the position of Chief Executive Officer. We are writing to you in the hope that you may have some perspectives on potential candidates.
Building British Columbia’s future will take a continuous infusion of trained and tested trades people. The newly created Transportation Industry Training Organization (TITO) will play the role of champion in developing the trades for road building and heavy construction, marine carriers, trucking and transit sectors. The four sectors represented within the Transportation Industry Training Organization are among the longest-established and largest sectors of the B.C. economy. Collectively, they account for over $20 billion in economic activity annually and support more than 140,000 jobs. The role of an ITO includes defining training needs, developing training plans, coordinating training delivery, setting occupational and program standards, promoting industry training and career opportunities, providing services to apprentices and employers, and measuring training outcomes. These responsibilities encompass both the ongoing delivery and improvement of existing training programs, and new program development as may be required.
This CEO, the first to hold the position, will be the hub that joins the private sector, training providers and the future trades people who will build B.C.’s future. Working in concert with an independent and influential Board of industry and labour leaders, the CEO will create both the start up and the long range operational plan and forge the relationships that will develop a responsive training regimen in the Province.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in one of the following: Senior management experience, likely in operations or human resources, within a related transportation organization would be an asset; senior management experience in a not-for-profit organization that includes interaction with a Board, government, and a range of stakeholders; or leadership experience in a training or trades related educational organization.
My colleagues Lara Truderung, Brent Cameron or I would be delighted to hear from you at (604) 685-0261, or by email to
